Yesterday i found myself taking notice, feeling grateful - so i truly embraced the moment and grabbed my camera, ready to document my feelings and celebrate what is real and true... Do you remember the challenge to unwrap the gifts in every day - to celebrate what is true and real ... the messy, the lovely, the unexpected? The challenge to discover gifts in the midst of the ordinary? Here is my story of celebrating one of those gifts:
The evening took on a slower pace last night, which was so welcome because our days and nights lately could be described as frantic, hurried, exhausting and chaotic, but not last night. For many reasons, i guess i felt less rushed and was able to finally take a deep breath and take notice of my life unfolding before my eyes.
i caught a glimpse of my jaeger jay, fresh from the shower and comfy in his sweats... oh how i love my boys fresh from that shower, hair damp and skin clean. i love their bare bellies and am amazed at the muscle tone already starting to show. It always fast forwards me to the future and i can imagine my 17 year olds ripped and walking around with six packs instead of round yummy bellies... and i suppose, because i leap into the future, i suddenly want to hold these babies of mine and soak in every.single.moment with them, because i realize that all too soon they will be 17 and then they won't fit in my lap, i won't be able to kiss their necks and zerbert their bellies.
So tonight, i snuggled my jaeger jay, i breathed deep the sweet smell of his wet hair and kissed his neck and rubbed his baby soft skin... i held him close as long as i could. i smiled at his tatooed arm and wondered if he'd ever come home with a real one. i kissed his belly button because at 7 your belly button is still adorable. i enjoyed him... i lived in the moment and did not rush him off to bed...
i discovered a gift in the midst of the ordinary!
