Final Fair Post

Well, the fair is done and summer is winding down...

so i leave you with some more pictures of our fun at the fair and hope you catch a glimpse of just a few of the memories that were made...

( we opted for the elephant ears at $5 a pop - yes, $5 each... however i have no picture due to the lightning storm moving in and a little boy who panicked. Needless to say mom waited in the ginormous line by herself and then carried piping hot elephant ears to the van parked in the back 40 and we all proceeded to devour the expensive yumminess and then go through 500 wipes trying to get the sticky sugar off our fingers.) ( Oh, and next time you see me ask me how it is that i drank out of a carnie's cup, that didn't freak me out or anything.)

they loved it, this ride was pushing it for Luke... but he was brave with daddy by his side

jack just chillin on the catepillar crawl ( he is as wild as they come and yet is overly cautious when it comes to rides of any kind. This really shocks the pants off me that my boys are not more brave in this situation because most every day they are the wild things and they attempt to do things that should rightfully kill them at least every other day. I think my mantra should be 'Lord, have mercy' )

i took this at the fair too and had to throw it in because, well, just look at that adorable face... those blue-green eyes, the freckles on that cute little nose and those sweet little lips and those long dark eyelashes... i could eat him with a spoon

the fair is even more fun when friends come along

and she shouted "YEAH" with pure excitement on her face as you can see.

Now that girl is a daredevil!

Well, there you have it, a whole week of blogging on the fair. We had soo much fun at the fair!

Farm Friends

i'm not sure why but i had more fun getting pictures of the roosters -

this guy just makes me think "Rise and Shine" and go make a big farm breakfast
i think i need him to haul this night owl's butt out of bed in the morning

the boys couldn't wait to show me this diva
they thought "she" was pretty funny
i'm assuming "she" just because of the "do"
She was really spastic, a very uptight diva

jack lovin' on the baby goat, i so could have a baby goat as a pet

this pig was hysterical... all the other pigs snorted, turned away, or slept through our visit... they were rather unfriendly: but not this guy, he did all he could to say hi and love on us... i am quite sure he was trying to give Jaeger a kiss and as you can see jabes was a little unsure of this.

i just felt you had to see what it really is that was trying to kiss my kids

this was hilarious.. again our friend was trying to give out kisses and then snorted and slobbered right in Luke's face... just look at Luker's face to see how he reacted. Hilarious!

it was all i could do to not take this precious little thing home

and last but not least this picture of ole bessy who was making a fuss about something... she was one unhappy cow so it seemed. The only one mooing and stewing about something. This picture of her mooing just cracks me up... yeah i know; easily amused.

( again i'm completely guessing the gender... it just seems to fit )
Well, there you have it, life in the barns at the Hudsonville fair... maybe i could be a country girl.

( on a side note: i am having a hard time knowing our friendly little pig is probably about on his way to the slaughter house, a really hard time with that... just call me Fern and if you don't know Fern then seriously go buy Charlotte's Web and read it for pete's sake. )

i love the fair (Rides... part one)

i love EVERYTHING about the fair... rides, fair food, derbies, farm animals, cute kids and the list could go on and on ... the sights, the smells and the sounds... it is all so fun. I took a million and one pictures so i am officially declaring this "fair week" on my blog. Each day I'll share some snapshots of all the fun we had at the fair!

This is my Summer List

a list of things we wanted to squeeze into summer

amazingly enough my list could have been longer

i just love summer and all that goes with it

the list hangs on my chalkboard in my kitchen

we have put an "x" in many of the boxes

BUT...

it is now the end of August and soccer practice has started

Back to school jeans and backpacks have been bought

we have begun switching over to a "Fall" frame of mind

i hate it... i want summer to last forever

there is still so many things left on our summer to-do list

My summer list may be longer next year

as i add to the list all those things we never "squeezed" in

For today, i am going to enjoy these last weeks as much as possible

i'm going to go buy water-balloons for that water fight yet to be had

and i'm penciling in things on the calendar hoping to cross off more Summer fun!

Fun Supper!

( Marc was loving the orange Crush in glass bottles... it brought him back to his childhood. He remembers it being one of his buddies favorite pops... they could grab one out of the fridge in the garage anytime they wanted.) Funny how little things can bring you right back to a childhood memory. What food or drink would bring you back?

Live Joyfully

Find Joy everyday... in the little things... even in messy scrapbook rooms ...this little pile caught my eye, so bright and colorful and then i saw the purple square that reminded me to live joyfully... i ran to get my camera and took a few pictures of the things that bring me joy even in the midst of a mess!

fireflys

the boys had so much fun catching fireflies
i am amazed at how easily they catch them.
we put them in a big blue antique canning jar and tried to capture them glowing in pictures
this proved to be rather difficult.... this is probably the best shot we took
the boys let them glow in the jar in their room at bedtime for awhile and then i let them go around midnight so they could let their little lights shine!
