Weekending

the weekend was wonderful - short but oh so sweet

we had our oldest off to a sleepover with his best friend and the younger two each had friends come to our house... jack set up sleeping bags and lanterns downstairs in our "turtle room" (apparantly our turtle has his own room) and jaeger cozied up his bedroom for the night.  the excitement was palpable and i'm sure jack thought he could make the clock jump ahead quicker if he checked the time every 5 minutes... friends arrived and there was laughter and whispers, there was wii and webkinz, cinnamon rolls for a treat, there was sleeping bags and sleepy boys due to late bedtimes... fun was had by all.

i finally made the treats i had planned to make the week of Christmas and so my life goes... good intentions... always such good intentions.  i have decided however, that this is the year i'm kissing perfection goodbye, there are no "rules" of how something must go, only my own unrealistic expectations.  so today i was in a baking frenzy making our favorite ivory star bars and some adorable cookies which will be delivered to the neighbors tomorrow and instead of "Merry Christmas" it will be "Happy New Year"... and i'm ok with that... i know they will love me just the same.

my hubby gets "daddy of the year" award for spending his weekend building an ice rink for our boys.  they are beyond excited and couldn't stop saying thank-you and randomly hugging him.  jack even offered to help clean tonight... OH MY... someone is really grateful.  it is small but the fun is going to be on a grand scale... YUP - Daddy of the Year Award!
