WE LOVE WEEKENDS:
here is a recap of the last 4 crazy weekends...
December 11-13
the weekend for four of the five of us was summed up in the word - soccer. Luke had a tourney out at MVP on Saturday and Sunday... the boys struggled and lost all but one game.
Marcus spent his entire weekend fixing vehicles... 14 hours on Sat. and another 8 on Sunday... his weekend could've been summed up in 2 words - this sucks
December 18-20
we had the BEST weekend... thursday night we headed North to Traverse City to spend the weekend skiing with grandma and grandpa, mike, jule, nick, jenn, aubrey, scott and alyssa. we stayed at cherry tree inn and skiied Boyne on friday and Crystal on saturday. it was breathtaking up north... the pine trees were cloaked with heavy snow and all weekend long the snow fell softly... it was magical... snowglobe magical. i could not get enough of the beauty, i just kept saying over and over "it is so beautiful"
we skiied our hearts out and this mama had to learn to not be faint of heart as i watched my oldest teeter over the sheer drop of the "gorge" and board his way down to the bottom with no fear at all. loved every minute of it all... lots of good memories and lots of laughs too... especially the moment where a particular someone (possibly me) somehow missed getting off the chairlift and had to be rescued... long story short... i got close and personal with the lift operator when he fell backwards in the snow and i landed on top of him... lets just say i gave him the you are flippin' crazy look when he explained how he was going to get me down... oh yes... lots of laughs

( i have no pictures for the next 2 days because my camera broke... sooo sad... except the gingerbread house pic which i took with Ashley's camera later in the week... thank goodness i could use her camera for Christmas Eve.)
Christmas morning was spent with the boys opening stockings from Santa and gifts from us... we then went to Holly's Landing for brunch with my sister in law and brother in law and their family, Aunt Mary and Dad D (mom was working) we ended the day together, in jammies watching Despicable Me... so darn funny... i love family time snuggling and watching movies!
Sunday we spent the entire day at Marc's mom and dad's (grandma and grandpa D) We enjoyed a wonderful lunch first which included everybody's favorite steak mmmmmmmmmmmmm it is the BEST! The whole gang gathered in the family room and the present opening began... so many fun gifts to give and receive... we had lots of yummy desserts to choose from and we all ate a few too many... my fave are those darn almond bars... BLISS!
best memories from the day was dancing to the Michael Jackson wii game and watching Jenn and Nick help Jack and Jaeger build their gingerbread houses... which brings me to the final pictures from the Christmas parties...
December 31 - Jan 2nd
we kept the weekend quiet... we were rather partied out to be honest. New Years Eve was spent eating Chinese from Stirfry Express... love love love Stirfry Express... hanging out... low key... watching the ball drop... shouting Happy New year and being happy to climb into our nice warm beds.
New Years Day was playing wii, cleaning house, organizing, staying in jammies and watching movies... perfect kind of day... just the kind i love!
we have a tradition that on new years eve or new years day we answer the same 10 questions... it is one of my favorite things EVER! Our questions include: i am lucky because... if i had 3 wishes, they would be... i'm a little afraid of... my favorite thing to do is... God blessed me this year because... if i could go anywhere in the world, i would go to... my hero is... when i grow up i want to be... my favorite memory from 2010 was... something i want to do in 2011 is... and a new question starting this year is... how do i want to serve others this year... This is the BEST tradition... we laugh every year as we reread answers and we feel satisfaction knowing some goals were met and yet other times we resolve to try again when we have not accomplished what we had hoped to do. THE BEST... EVER!
haha... jaeger wished for a clean house... humbled... but heck, i'm wishin' for that too... i want that button!!
December brought some great weekends and tons of great memories!
