Weekending

I woke up to the sun shining on Friday morning and for the first time this week i actually felt motivated.  i cleaned the house all morning and all afternoon and made a little progress on the mess that had surrounded me all week.  Marc came home for lunch and fried some bacon out on the deck and i made an egg dish for for us to enjoy... i really love our "hour" of togetherness without the craziness of the kids.  4:00 rolled around and the kids came running home, throwing backpacks on the kitchen floor and begging to start decorating for the spooky/haunted front yard.  i offered to take them to the Halloween superstore for a few more decorations and we spent a good hour ooohing and aaahhing over all the creepy decorations.  we came home full of ideas and decided to bring daddy back with us to decide on what all to buy.  we had soo much fun.  the boys decorated after dark and mom ran to the grocery store and we collapsed into bed that night!

Saturday brought an early indoor soccer game (jack took a nasty hit to the face that knocked him right off his feet and later in the game, got a penalty kick and scored)  I then spent my entire afternoon shopping at the mall trying to take advantage of the coupons i had (yes... i'm that dutch.)  I then drove out to Luke's outdoor game for another hour of soccer.  we rushed home from his game to dress the kids in Halloween costumes and the craziness began... our spooky yard was awesome and we loved every minute of the haunting fun...  we had 100's of kids come trick or treating, we even ran out of candy... it was so crazy.  Luke went to his first boy/girl party and had a blast with all his friends.  we again collapsed into bed after yet another long but exhausting day!

Sunday:  a day of rest... we had a  long lazy morning where we drank cup after cup of coffee and then went to grandma and grandpa's for dinner... Gram made steaks which is our favorite.  we enjoyed catching up with family... there was laughing and telling stories and playing with cousins.  i love the warmth of grandma's kitchen and the delicious smells that fill the air making my mouth water and the din of everyone talking and laughing around the table... this is what makes life so good!

i ended the weekend meeting my sister-in-"love" Ashley at the mall to look for cute boots and we both tried on and bought our first pair of jeggings...love them!  It was a full and busy weekend and i am now ready for a less crazy week!  What adventures did your weekend bring?

  1. I'm sure you rock the jeggings... but they scare me worse than that creepy graveyard scene in your photo.
